About
OXIDE CLAY ART runs pottery and ceramics classes with award winning artist potter and teacher, Joe Ottaway who has over 30 years’ experience as a TAFE Ceramics Teacher and Ceramic Artist in Brisbane.
Joe is a master potter and his experience and enthusiastic approach to teaching ensures that students have an enjoyable, rewarding, high quality pottery experience exploring their creativity and learning new skills.
The experience at Oxide Clay Art is also unique because students are able to finish their pots with professional quality high fired stoneware reduction glazes which have been developed and refined by Joe over the past 30 years.
The reduction firing is done in a gas fired kiln taking 8 hours and requires close supervision and attention to detail.
Examples of student work featuring these glazes may be seen on the Gallery Page.
The Oxide Clay Art studio is located in a beautiful bush land setting near Mount Ninderry with stunning views of Mount Eeewah and the Yandina district. Our studio is air-conditioned for comfort all year round.
